Acupressure

Originating in China, acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the finger to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.  When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of the blood and the body's chi, or life force energy.  The aim of this method is to induce therapeutic changes by relieving pain, discomfort and physiological imbalance.    Back to top.

Shiatsu

The Japanese system, known as Shiatsu, a finger pressure method, is used to stimulate acupressure points, reinforcing joints and muscles.  It also incorporates stretching and movement.  Shiatsu is used to establish an efficient flow of energy throughout the tissue or energy points and autonomic nervous system.  When pressure is properly applied to these points, circulation is improved and nerves are stimulated.  Shiatsu is said to improve body metabolism and to relieve a number of physical disorders. Reflexology

Reflexology commonly focuses on reflex points of the feet, as well as the hands and ears.  By applying firm pressure to the nerve endings of a specific reflex point, an impulse is conveyed to the associated body part needing treatment thereby initiating a healing response.  This is believed to stimulate the bodily organs and help them return to optimal functioning. Reiki Energy Work

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy.  Reiki activates the body's natural ability to heal.  Reiki is experienced as a powerful yet unobtrusive flow of healing energy.  It is important to note that the Reiki energy is not a mind power.  It is spiritual in nature, and therefore cannot be directed or manipulated in any way.  Reiki bypasses the symptom and goes to the cause of the problem to allow healing and works on the belief that each of us knows more about what is necessary for our healing than anybody else.
