The Mind Body Connection:
What It Means to You
by Jens Korgaard, D.C.

The human brain us a marvelous creation. It can still out perform even the fastest computers. It has enough memory storage capacity to contain half a million encyclopedias and can oversee the function of billions of cells simultaneously. The main link between the brain and the body is the spinal cord, which sends information to every organ and system. Healers and great thinkers have known about the mind body connection for thousands of years. In ancient Greece, Hippocrates advised people to look toward the spine as the source of disease.

More recently, Thomas Edison predicted that modern medicine will become more involved in investigating the human skeleton as the source of disease and healing. Chiropractic is based upon this mind body link and the importance of maintaining a healthy spine for transmitting this innate intelligence throughout the body. Unfortunately, the spine can be injured by the birth process, physical trauma or simply the stresses of everyday living. These injuries can cause misalignments, or subluxations that interfere with the communication between the spine (and ultimately the brain) and the rest of the body..

When this happens, cells, organs and systems lose their ability to function properly, resulting in a variety of diseases that can include headaches, asthma, allergies, joint problems and a variety of other disorders. The role of Chiropractic is to restore the spine to its normal position so that proper energy flow in the spine is restored.

When this happens, the body uses its own innate intelligence to begin the healing process. Recently in a landmark study on Network Chiropractic, 76% of patients reported improved combined wellness changes in all categories assessed ( including physical state, mental/emotional state, stress evaluation, life enjoyment and quality of life), and 95% reported expectations had been meet, 99% planned continued care.

Network Chiropractic , which I practice, combines the best of several chiropractic techniques. It is a safe gentle, effective technique that restores proper spinal function, which is critical to all healing.
